Main Events

Traditional Backgammon: 5 points matches, no doubling cube, only single wins and gammons, KO-Format, re-entries possible as far as spots available. Entry fee: $100, Payout Winner prize: $2,000

Modern Backgammon: 9 point matches, WBA rules, clocks mandatory (18m total + 12s delay/move), doubling cube, Crawford rule, single/double/triple wins, T-system with 2 lives. Entry fee: $150, Payout Winner prize: $3,000, 2nd prize: $1,000

Side-Events:

Doubles Consulting: 7 points matches, WBA-rules, clocks mandatory (21 minutes total + 12 seconds delay/move), doubling cube, Crawford rule, single/double/triple wins, KO-Format, re-entries possible as far as spots available. Entry fee: $100 + $20 (Registration fee) per team, Payout: 100% of entry fee.

DMP-Challenge: 1-point matches, KO-Format- re-entries possible as far as spots available. Entry fee: $10, Payout: 85%.

SpeedGammon-Challenge: 5 points matches, WBA-rules, clocks mandatory (10 minutes total + 10 seconds delay/move), doubling cube, Crawford rule, single/double/triple wins, KO-Format, re-entries possible as far as spots available.Entry fee: $20, Payout: 85%.

General Terms

Only cash payments in US-Dollars will be accepted.

The World Backgammon Association (WBA) tournament rules will apply.

This event is by invitation only, thus the tournament committee and directors reserve the right to refuse application or admittance without giving due reason.

The usage of official tournament precision dice is mandatory.

Clocks are mandatory in following events: Modern Backgammon Tournament, Doubles Consulting, SpeedGammon.

Tournament trophies will be presented during the awards ceremony only.

Leaving the tournament room without informing the Tournament Director and/or staff might result in penalty points and forfeit.

The Tournament Directors reserve the right to change the program during the event. Tournament Director’s ruling is final, unless over-ruled by the Ruling Committee.

Tournament Director

Born 1965 in Iran, German citizen and resident, MBA with major in Marketing Management. Involved in Backgammon since mid-1980s.

Started as a player, then as tournament organizer (experience of over 400 regional, national and international tournaments), promoter, and backgammon consultant to the major gaming sites (Play65, Melita Gaming Group, Partygaming, Betfair).

Contributed to the unification of international rules and to the creation of national federations and associations (India, Iran, USA, Peru, etc.).

Running the “Backgammon Academy”, the backgammon school for individuals and companies.

Founder and President of the World Backgammon Association – leading promoter of backgammon worldwide.
